I am an ecologist  interested in several aspects of aquatic environments. I am currently studying the role of biofilms in natural and human impacted streams located in the second largest Brazilian biome - the "Cerrado" savannah.

I am also interested in ecophysiological aspects of plankton organisms and the transfer of biochemical matter and energy in aquatic food webs.

Another research interest of mine is the role of protists in connecting the microbial and the classic food web as well as the ecophysiology and biochemistry of mixotrophic flagellates and ciliates.

Specific research interests:

• Biochemistry of aquatic biofilms in natural and agricultural impacted streams in Cerrado regions;
• Biochemistry (fatty acids, sterols, amino acids, proteins, carbohydrates), elemental stoichiometry, nutritional quality, and ecophysiology of autotrophic, heterotrophic, and mixotrophic protists;
• Seasonal and daily changes in the biochemistry of plankton communities;
• Fluxes of biochemical matter and energy  between the microbial and the classic food web.
